Google has launched a new feature for Irish news organisations.

Editors' Picks, launching in Ireland today, allows publishers to select highlights from their content for display on a new section of the Google News site.

Initial partners at launch include BreakingNews.ie, the Irish Examiner, Irish Independent, Irish Times, RTE, TV3, The Journal, Joe.ie, and Her.ie.

Jill O'Sullivan, editor of breakingnews.ie said: "We are delighted to be part of this new Google initiative to highlight the best of what we do, from hard news to viral content."

"Editor's Picks is another way for our readers to easily discover our top stories."

“We’ve been working with the news ecosystem for some time now to create innovative new ways for them to engage readers of news online,” said Madhav Chinnappa, Google’s Head of News Partnerships in Europe.

“Editors’ Picks gives publishers a place to bring together the best of traditional and digital journalism; promoting long-form stories and experimenting with new formats.”

The new feature is now live on news.google.com.
