The economy grew by 1.7% in the third quarter of this year, compared to the second quarter.

This means gross domestic product has increased by 5% in the past 12 months.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show the Irish economy is continuing to outperform many other EU countries.

The quarterly national accounts have recorded strong increases for the financial and insurance sectors, but a decline in areas like agriculture, transport and hospitality.
