Tourism Ireland unveils campaign to target gay wedding market

Tourism Ireland has unveiled a new campaign targeting the gay wedding market, following the referendum result.

Tourism Ireland shot a video showcasing romantic locations to tie the knot.

CEO of Tourism Ireland Niall Gibbons said they were hopeful of developing a market.

"We know that in New York when it was legalised, the spend just in the first year on weddings and honeymoons was $250m. Of that, nearly $20m was in city and state taxes," he said.

"So, there is a market there. It's very much in its infancy and this (campaign) is very much dipping out toe in the water."

Tourism Ireland will promote the campaign in nine markets including Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Spain, Italy and Germany.
