Galway-Based Consumer Service Technology Firm To Bring 100 New Jobs

US firm Genesys are to create 100 new jobs in Galway to expand its research and development centre.

The company has moved to a premises in the Bonham Quay area of the city in anticipation of the expansion.

Genesys has been based in Galway since 2018 when it acquired Artificial Intelligence (AI) company, Altocloud, and is also offering the option for people to work remotely according to The Irish Times.

The company previously pledged to created 200 jobs by the second half of 2o21, with the 100 software engineering jobs representing a 50 per cent increase on that commitment.

General manager of digital and artificial intelligence at Genesys, Barry O'Sullivan told The Irish Times the western city has been a key driver in the company's innovation.

"Galway has played an integral role for Genesys in developing innovations in the fields of cloud, digital and AI.

"As companies need to keep pace with consumers' evolving preferences for digital engagement across the overall customer experience, we are focusing on hiring world-class talent in Ireland to help deliver technologies that make it possible with our vision of experience as a service," Mr O'Sullivan said.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has welcomed the news saying the announcement opens up opportunities for people countrywide.
