Retail sales fell by 4.3% in February compared to January this year.

Retail sales fell by 4.3% in February compared to January this year.

The motor trade and hardware sales saw the biggest drop.

However, furniture and lighting, clothing and footwear sales increased.

The CSO figures were compiled before the impact of the Covid-19 crisis.

The organisation is appealing to firms to continue to provide data where possible, in order to establish the full impact of Covid-19 on the economy.
