Burton gives Shatter her backing

The Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton says she has full confidence in the Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

Shatter is to face a Fianna Fail motion of no confidence in the Dail next week - as the controversy over his breathalyser test and the penalty points report continues.

Joan Burton says she believes Fianna Fail is attempting to extend the life of the story

"I think people on both sides on this controversy should stand back. There should be a standard the confidential infortmation held by public bodies is not revealed. That's the standard.

"I do have confidence in him. I actually think he has been a very reforming Minister for Justice. It has been a very difficult period."
