The Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) is to ballot its members for industrial action over redundancy fears.

The Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) is to ballot its members for industrial action over redundancy fears.

The union made the decision at a meeting of its Central Executive Committee today.

It says that a number of unnecessary redundancies are planned and it needs to protect its members.
