An Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a viable explosive device in Coolock, Dublin this evening.

The Defence Forces deployed the Team after a suspect device was recovered by the Gardaí in Ferrycarraig Park, Priorswood, Dublin.

The Team arrived on scene shortly after 7pm and a cordon and traffic restrictions were put in place for public safety.

The device was rendered safe in situ without the need for a controlled explosion.

The viable device was subsequently taken to a safe military location for further examination.

All component parts have now been handed over to the Gardaí to assist them with their investigation into the incident.

The scene has been declared safe.
